|Mesquite Motor Mania will include about 600 classic cars along with a two-day chili cook off about 80 miles north of Las Vegas.
A long list of activities will keep Mesquite hopping Friday through Sunday when the fourth annual $15,000 Mesquite Motor Mania invades the city.
With some 600 classic cars, Mesquite Motor Mania will include every conceivable vehicle along with motorcycles and the rest. The event is one of several promoted by Las Vegas Cruisin Association.
The array of special activities related to Mesquite Motor Mania kicks off Friday with a roaring engines competition at the CasaBlanca beginning at noon.
An open header cruise to each of the Mesquite hotels is set from 2-4 p.m; with slow drags and burnout competition set for the CasaBlanca parking lot from 4-6 p.m.
Saturdayís big schedule kicks off at each location beginning at 9 a.m. with an assortment of related activities running until 6 p.m.
Final day activities begin Sunday at 8 a.m.; with a giant awards ceremony set for 1 p.m. in the CasaBlanca Showroom.
The finale in the CasaBlanca Showroom attracts capacity crowds of automobile enthusiasts for awards such as Peoples Choice, Participantís Pick and Best of Show.
Specialty Awards include Best of Chrome, Outstanding Paint Award, Outstanding Engine Award, Best Engineered Award, Hottest Flames, Coolest Car Award, Sanitary Award and Hot Stuff Award.
The husband and wife team of Kevin and Tamie Merrill of Idaho Falls, Ida., captured Best of Show honors in 2011 with a beautiful 1940 Ford pickup.
